Ghost recon 2 for mac?

Post by Mntnbkr83 » Sat Nov 06, 2004 12:32 pm

Hi, I was just wondering if they are going to make Ghost recon 2 for mac. I kinda doubt it, but I would like it if they did.

thanks,

I'm sure it will be ported over to MAC at some point, but probably at least 3-6 months after the PC release which is scheduled for March or May of 2005.

I figured it would be like that...too bad it'll take so long. Thanks for the information though!

My question on this topic deals with the not so obvious but equally important: will they have an updated version of IGOR included with the game. IGOR 2 is overdue, never updated so ffar, and thus to do new types of missions in GR2, with new behaviours for actors and weapons and such - it makes sense they'd have to update their own editor, IGOR, which is included free with the PC version of the game.

And, OMG, will GR 1.x missions and mods be compatible with GR2 ?

that i can tell you...

ABSOLUTELY NOT

GR2 uses a completely different and more advanced game engine, thus none of the first GR missions/gametypes etc will work on the new ghost recon 2...

i would think the igor program will be updated becasue of all the new AI features. (Tanks and helicopters being able to hunt you down, and being able to program the bomb runs, etc.)

I'm expecting Ghost Recon 2 to be scripted alittle like Operation Flashpoint. From what I have read and seen Operation Flashpoint allows for way more customization than Ghost Recon. Operation Flashpoint is similar to Ghost Recon but with more vehicles and planes.

This will be interesting then. Right now, choppers are impossible to control in multiplayer, only single player.

I wonder if the new vehicle (air and land) features will be controllable via scripting in multiplayer then.

I'm sure there will be an internal version update for them of Igor - it was released in 2001 - in order to accomodate the new features. So it *should* make it out publicly as well then I would think.

If the air/land vehicles are handled as A.I. by the game engine that would take some load off of IGOR (not having to change as much).

From what I have seen about the way they did IGOR the first time and how long its life has been (new features keep cropping up with AS leading the way, and other modders as well) the new stuff will be worth the wait.

from what i gather, these features will be controlable, either by keeping the vehicles on "said path" or have them break away from "said path" and hunt you down.

I recall chavez saying something along these lines as well.

Gotcha. They're going to be somewhat limited by trees and narrow urban streets but I still fancy they idea will be a big improvement.

I heard that Tom Clancy is a real Macophile and everything he makes is going to be ported to the Mac. Hope so. GR is, IMHO, the best game out there.

Sounds as though it's basically a Raven Shield 2 . . . based on the reviews there is no longer any stealth involved. Not really any single player squad help. The only big plus I've read was the graphics, and personally the graphics are one of the lesser factors I take into account. This game sounds as though it will be a disappointment to me.

my expectations for the game are like a rollercoaster ride, some days i feel like the game is gonna be crap and somedays i think its gonna be excellent, i guess i'm gonn ahave to wait for myself to see what its all about.

I have been thinking about renting it for PS2 but i have heard bad reviews about it on that platform.
