Another one of Blade's ideas... (For swordedit)

Could someone *cough Samuco cough* create a option in swordedit or what ever version it is to be able to TYPE in the exact name of a tag and it immediately selects all of them FOR YOU. Then you can click a button that rotates through all of these. Kind of like a FIND button. I think it is like the Selection Type thing but much more focused and accurate.
This would be so much more useful when creating scenery maps and fine adjusting scenery positioning.

I hate it when i spend 4 hours trying to click a scenery piece without clicking the wrong one. lol.

^ I know right?
What is even worse is when you try a million times then you are forced to give up and move the OTHER scenery that you can move away then RECONSTRUCT what ever needed to be moved.

Yeah if you have like a box out of hanger walls around a teleporter entrance, it will be impossible to click the teleporter. I usually just change the mod2 of the hangerwall or whatever scen to healthpack so i can delete the scen piece im trying to move, then change the mod2 back and try again to create and move it.

If when selecting scenery it would select the scenery in the front, instead of the back, that would be swell.

Yeah, I already PM-ed Samuco.

This is his reply:

I am not sure if this is starlight (the first version) or if it is his machine concepts or some other product.

IT IS impossible to click ANYTHING inside a hanger wall box. It's like swordedit has a preference for picking a hanger wall over everything... Stupid box of hanger walls traps you and pÎ$$∑$ you off.

I hate doing all that work. Just doing that in while modding wastes a good half hour of so.

Hmm. I think it picks the one it THINKS your cursor is on. Unfortunately, swordedit's ability to accurately pick the item we are actually trying to select is pretty bad. Once it picked a scenery that was 4 hanger walls behind the item I was trying to select (there were more behind it though). It might also have a set value of a distance for selecting items.

Also wouldn't it be nice to control EXACTLY how much you zoom in with "w" in swordedit? Maybe someone *cough Samuco cough* could also make a value box where the user could edit how many frames is being zoomed in. You can sort of do this with the slider bar of how many frames (default 15) but you can still overshoot an item. >.<

Zodiark, that is a good idea! That would solve most of the problems of clicking....you never really have a detail object BEHIND a wall!

*cough* Multiple rooms, support structures, fine detail lights, emitters, and don't forget the good old symbols *cough*

Easier if it had a find function then cycle through. But having it select one in the front would be nice.

ANOTHER IDEA:

Easier multiple selection. You know how to select multiple things, you have to hold down shift and CLICK each one? Wouldn't be easier to use select all in a defined space? Like hold down some key(s) and then drag mouse to create that box in swordedit that then automatically selects EVERYTHING in that space. Kind of like the select on the Desktop of Finder. Bulk Selection for the win.

Also does anyone know how to keep everything in PLACE when moving multiple items at once? When I switch to Translation mode, it warps everything to cluster together near ME if I am dragging them towards my direction. Easy to notice if you select a bunch of player spawns that are all separate but end up as a big messy cluster. Is this possible to be fixed?
