Area of Effect Damage

Area of Effect Damage

Can anyone help me on how to make damage that is normally specific to the object it hits instead have an area of effect such as grenades or rockets.

I have tried tagging them as explosions and messing with the min/max range from triggering object but these don't seem to work...

Hang on, I'm kinda confused. You are trying to make grenades and rockets and such focus their damage on one single person and not have a blast radius? Or are you trying to make bullets and such have a blast radius like an explosion?

Either one, you're gonna have to mess with the damage metas.

I though I was clear enough, guess not...

I am trying to make a damage that normally is focused on a single object instead have a blast radius. And I know that I have to mess with the damage metas because I had indicated what I had already messed with in them...

there is something in the offset list that is titled "shock wave" under damage:

Their names are misleading, those only shake the screen, they don't have to do with the force of the projectile.

I'd think there's something like a damage radius in the 'damage' HMT plugin. Copy something from the rocket launcher and stick it in the pistol. Too lazy to check what.

@grat: I use projectile only as a convention, but still the "shockwave" damage objects don't work as they have to do with the visual effects of people's screens when they are near the blast.

@beast: Yes, there is both a minimun range and maximum range, described by the HMT plugin as being the range from the triggering object, to have the damage affect you. I have messed around with these to no avail as detailed at the end of the first post, which leads me to believe that it is not the only thing I must change.

A Bunny, have you tried editing the AOE Core Radius, min and max damage? You might of set the range correctly but the damage was so low it didn't affect you.

It's not the damage I'm looking for but the force but I'll check.

EDIT: tested what HMT tells me to put in and other values nothing worked.

Ok, I missed what you were looking for. There is a Force tag in the same area but. for most of the weapon ammo, the force is set to 0. For grenades and rockets the force is set. Let me look at the hex for the location and I'll post back.

I changed the force of the frag grenades. I made the force real high so now if you throw a frag at a warthog it goes flying. :lol:
