Well the 0.5 source isn't going to be public anytime soon. And feel free to play release the sparkedit versions. That's why bob has it out. I linked you to a very general tutorial on all of the important parts of what makes Eschaton run on my site. Mainly the ability to read the header and the index. From there it's pretty simple to be able to do anything else.

i'v been studying the Eschaton src and was thinkin how i'd never be able to figure out how to copy the correct src files into the new app i'm making

...

so i was wondering, is there a place that i could find a list of all the halo full offsets and stuff?

i'm thinking of using the "select case" function and basically having the program read/write values from the file based on their offset.

You could use predetermined offsets, but that only works so long as you're not dealing with rebuilt map files (or I'm not understanding what you want to do). And of course there's what, 30 different maps?

Really, it'd be much easier to write from scratch using methods described here. It's pretty easy to figure out the mapfile once you get the hang of it.
