'Must Have' mods and conversions - which?

Post by [BIG] Ranger » Mon Mar 21, 2005 6:41 am

[First off - sorry about my flurry of posts on this forum. I have just rediscovered Ghost Recon over the past week and have got a bit obsessive about it! LOL]

Having just got back into Ghost Recon after a long absence I now find I have a base installation without any of the huge inventory of mods that I used to have...

Also, things have changed so much: when I play on GameRanger I don't recognize half of the mods people seemk to want you to have installed!

SO, can anyone tell me what are the 'must have' mods and conversions I should have at the moment please?

(And more inportantly, where do I get them?)

Many thanks,

Ranger

What Vir2l listed is mostly for coop games. Alpha Squad 2 is definitely a must on the coop side. As for the adversial side, it is still the *Damn Map Packs (1 and 2.55). They might have been updated since you last played.

*Damn has their map packs and MGM has all the ones Vir2l listed and more.

Apart from the DBL packs, some (few) people play with Navy Seals, and the 2RH server plays with the 2RH mappack... available, I believe, from www.remyg.com

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions...

I've now downloaded all the suggested mods - wow! There are some stunning ones!

The maps in particular are so professional...

You know, the makers of Ghost Recon should bring out an 'ultimate collection' on DVD with the best of all the total conversions, maps and mods.

(They could take the oppertunity to issue a proper Mac 'Thunder Island' installation!)

:)

It would be good for those without a broadband connection, although as Ghr is getting abit long in the tooth I cant see them even giving it a second look now that GhR2 is being made for Pc/Mac and the word that they are starting GhR3.

If it's kit/soldier variety and a little mission challenge you're looking for, I'd suggest a look at HX5 Red Sun (IT). However, it does require the porting of PC's Island Thunder - also a highly recommended task to consider if your GhR interests are COOP-geared. If you're one who interests lean more towards the advsersarial aspect of GhR, then all you'll probably ever need are the the DBL Map Packs. In either case, it's also highly recommended you download custom command maps that have been modded to display gridlines over the original command map imagines.
