THINK.
It's not illegal yet.
It's not illegal yet.
Re: The final discussion: Buy or Download?
That is completely wrong. It is still the owners intellectual property. They have no obligations to sell it and there isn't a dern thing you can do about it legally.Hostbot wrote:Its not illegal if its no longer supported.

But it's not like we're making money off of their work, and they certainly aren't losing any money at this point.
Either you are groping for answers, or you are asking God and listening to Jesus.

They don't have the rights to the game anymore, it is still owned by Microsoft or Gearbox.Altimit01 wrote:That is completely wrong. It is still the owners intellectual property. Dirk, that's exactly what I said. I was referencing MS and gearbox and that point. They are the IP owners. It's their property and they can do what they want with it, including not giving it to anyone. Which is the point sparky. Even if they could be making money from it, and I'm not even convinced that there is a net profit for them, it's still their decision. And if they choose to just sit on it then that's their prerogative. They don't have to sell something if they don't want to and it's their choice.

Honestly, I'm with Sparky. Yes, it may be theirs, but we're not really "stealing." We're not depriving them of anything that they should be getting. I'd pay for it if I could. I really would. But since I can't, I'd just donate $30 to my charity or something.Sparky wrote:But it's not like we're making money off of their work, and they certainly aren't losing any money at this point.

Whatever. All I'm sayin is that if you feel bad, go ahead and give some money to a cause, so you're still losing the money you'd lose if you bought the game. It's the closest you can come to actually buying the game.Kiyoshi Nobuyuki wrote: "Hey look everyone! I steal the rights to play games by not paying for it, but I give to charity! Re: The final discussion: Buy or Download?
Wrong. You'd be giving to a charity for selfish reasons, not for the actual cause, thus making your money dirty money and sickening since you didn't pay for the game, it's like stealing money then giving it away to someone else so you won't be caught. Foolish young age thinking.

Pirating any game no matter if it sold or not is wrong. Even if the publishers have rights to it or not. You are making a statement saying that the years of coding and testing and debugging is not worth anything to you. A statement that you do not care how dedicated the developers were about this that you cannot bother to give them a little something for their time.

but torrents ARE legalolly12345 wrote:Look just take this up with someone else. I torrented it because my family was pressed for money. And I know some people on here did as well... Honestly I don't give a shit about torrenting, it's not legal but Can anyone possibly say that they have never done anything illegal in their lives? Anything? Even the smallest thing like swearing in public, used a gun underage, or attempted to commit all their undying love to Taxi??? Nobody will deny to doing something illegal. We have all done something so just do it if it's not against your ethics.
On iPod so granmer and spelling = shit.
is halo full for mac still copyrighted?
Re: The final discussion: Buy or Download?
Torrents are not illegal. Just like FTP and other protocols are not illegal. However using those protocols to distribute copyrighted material without permission is illegal. And yes Halo is still copyrighted. In the US copyright can last either the life of the author plus 70 years or for a work for hire (e.g., those created by a corporation) then copyright persists for 120 years after creation or 95 years after publication, whichever is shorter. It's going to be awhile before Halo hits the public domain.
