Swaping Game Types

In this tut, we are going to play the game type Oddball in Halo Demo.

Open Halo Demo.

Go to multi-player, and which ever connection you want (LAN or Internet)

Click bloodgulch and click next.

Now, once at the Game Type select screen, just click on Slayer. Don't press continue just yet

No, hide or press Apple+F11, and go to your Home Folder.

Now, go to Documents/ Halo Demo/ saved/ playlists/ defualt_playlist/ and go to folder 27.

Copy that file that is called blam.lst and paste it into folder 26.

What you just did, is swaped the oddball game type with the slayer.

Now, go back to Halo Demo, click next, then, start game.

You should hear oddball upon start up.

Have fun.

To figure out what game types are what, go to what ever folder in that location I told you to go, and take that file "blam.lst" and open it in TextEdit. The very first words of the document should tell you what it is.

Once again, Have Fun.

Elvish Wolf, I will give you the link but there is something you must bear in mind. These codes only work with Bloodgulch. If you decide to mod B30 (Silent Cartographer), you will need a new set of codes.

These codes (or at least I.D.s) can be found using Halo Mapping Tools (HMT). When you open a map in HMT, look to the right of the window and you should see (underneath the "Meta" test box) "ID". When you choose a selection (such as say, the Warthog Vehi tag) it will give you the I.D. of said tag.

NOTE: The I.D.s found in HMT are written BACKWARDS from how they are found in HexEdit. to use them in HexEdit, you must take each pair of two (one byte) and write them in the reverse order.

For Example 00 20 36 95 in HMT --> 95 36 20 00 in HexEdit.

Here are your codes:
I hope they help :).

Adding new items on a map

Post by Sparky » Tue Jul 24, 2007 1:04 pm

How do you add more items on a map?

I tried using SparkEdit to create extra items (up to 500), but it doesn't let me change the new items it creates.

I'm trying to place several camoflages around the map - actually I want everyone to always be in camo mode, like the Phantom gametype.

So. Maybe I'll just always play the Phantom Gametype and mod the rest of it using swaps...

I'm afraid that I can't help with spawning. I can't figure out how to add spawn points using HexEdit, and SparkEdit doesn't want to work for me either.

I would like to be of help, but I'm afraid that I cannot.

sparkedit mac is not yet able to duplicate items, so you will have to wait. Sword said duplication might be up within the week. Look here for more updates. Use Demo Hack 2.0 to allow it to read the demo map, but for some it still doesn't work.

You don't need demo hack for sparkedit. As sword said, demo maps work in sparkedit (for mac).

Wow you are the gayest person on the planet... go in fricken Eschaton and change the AR projectile in the D-swappa to plasma grenades. Then you go change the speed.

Apparently, quite a few demo moddders cant get spark to work for them, like moxus... I think hack should solve that problem.

Get Eschaton here: http://www.box.net/shared/4ez6ph21cm
Get SparkEdit for PPC here: http://forums.halodev.org/index.php?s=6 ... st&p=27908

How do you change the speed of the projectile? Wait! I found it.
