Why are we here? What is it that we enjoy doing? Discuss what attracted you to this site, and what you find most interesting about Halo Demo modding, Halo Demo, or modding in general.

Re: Why are we here?
I joined because I was looking to broaden the userbase for Eschaton and add support for demo modding. I thought that demo modders had a better understanding of the map structure at the time due to the prevalence of hex edit modding. Turns out it was mostly playing around with values at specific offsets and not understanding the general structure. But on the upside there's an actual sustainable community of mac modders here since halodev is dead for all intents and purposes and few mac modders post on halomods. And I for the most part like ya'll.

We like you too alt... I started modding actually because of sparkeys mod weapons evolved... I wanted to do something like that in b30.... Never actually did though...

Re: Why are we here?
Have you seen my Island Trifecta mod? I don't consider it complete, because the nuke from WE is not included, but you get the other major advantages from 3 different mods, including WE, The Island and Intelligent Design. Although I think I broke the jet in the process... so I need to redo it, if anyone is actually interestedtheone4life692 wrote:We like you too alt... I am attracted to this area for two reasons:
1. You guys are all really fun.
2. I like being creative and seeing my efforts rewarded in others' appreciation for my work.

Re: Why are we here?
I'm here cause it's a good community mostly, and I experiment with mods. Mess with little things and then try them on the internet. XD I have a small experiment folder, all my older cooler ones were lost.
I do have this odd sniper mod where I experimented with textures to make them explosive when I hit them with a sniper bullet.

Re: Why are we here?
One day I was in Sparks W.E. server, I had been trying to find some modding tools but with no success.
I asked him the moment I got in the server what he used, and where I could get it. I spent hours and quickly learned what each tag did in Eschaton.
I continued to mod, and learned many things, with-out Tuts. (well, I didn't know what a tut was.
)
I would always check the MGM home page for mods, but I never clicked on the forum link.
So, one night I was.... really board... And clicked on the forum link. I believe the first post I saw was one of seabees.
I hunted down more modding tools and continued to mod. (Still didn't know what a tut was. xP)
I was soon more interested in how the overall game worked, and thats where Hex came in.(<3)
I ran back and forth through the map files. I modded the index, before I even knew what the index offset was...
The only reason I stay, is because I don't think I've contributed to the community enough.
So until that happens, I'll be here.

1. I like computer programming kind of stuff
2. I like halo.....so putting them together sounded good to me

Re: Why are we here?
Hmmm...
Well I started off just chilling at CH, Playing in Kw's, sucking at halo. Then I met Jake2032, he tought me some basic Hex Swapping etc, Gave me Eschaton and Sparkedit, messed around, Ran into Dustyjjc, and Made the Survival mod Beta. Dusty released the mod onto here, and then actually persuaded me to come to this board... Been here ever since lol. Just never really decided to leave, only when circumstances were outta my control i guess lol.

Re: Why are we here?
I haven't been here that long and haven't contributed ANYTHING to the community..... and in almost every post I have there are A LOT of lengthy punctuation mark lines......... but heres my story.
One Summer day I was bored at my Dad's house, and I liked Halo so I decided to search "Halo for Mac" on Google. I got to the Apple website and downloaded the Halo Demo. I liked mods for Halo 2, so I decided to search "Mods for Halo Demo Mac" and got to the Macgamingmods website. I actually just used the main page mods for a few days until I realized what a forum was. By then I had learned how to use Eschaton and my second post was a topic on a Sniper mod I had made.
Lol, I've only posted a total of 2 mods since I've been here, and the rest of my modding is pretty much experiments and stuff.
I'm pretty sure this is my longest post ever. Lol.
