Slappey, You may want to look for work in Canada. the recession is not hitting as hard here and many places are still hiring.
I don't know what education you have but here in Vancouver there's a booming gaming industry, also in the construction and agricultural sectors. You may well be able to find work there, Especially since you have experience in modding.
I know it's quite far from where you live but It may be worth it. You could probably get a bus ticket to here pretty cheap.
Whatever your choice I say good luck!

The armaments which thunderstrike the walls
And monarchs tremble in their capitals.
The oak leviathans, whose huge ribs make
Of lord of thee, and arbiter of war;
Alike the Armada's pride, or spoils of Trafalgar.

Re: My life sucks...
Im thinking from the pics he posted he was pulling all you all's legs. I was wondering why the hell would he still have an iBook if he was about to go homeless? That doesnt make sense...
Anyway, the economy sucks. We should all blame Bush, because without him we would have some 3 trillion extra dollars to spend. **
The best jobs right now are in education, as people always need teaching, and not everyone is too poor for education. Those who can get it will, and so the teachers will be there. Sure, there are cuts, and the idiot who runs the University here could give up his through-the-roof salary and stop lobbying for a new stadium (I mean, cmon - WTH?!?). Both my parents work at the University of Washington. Both are doing fine right now. I guess it also helps that we didnt have much invested in the economy, and instead put it into another house (next door, actually...) and a property in Okanogan county. And we had an RV, though that was hard to sell. My dad had to drive cross country to finally sell it to some person on the East Coast...
Dont think going to another country will solve the problem. My uncle in Brazil has a successful machining business running that he inherited from my grandfather. But he has had to lay off many of the workers, and he said he now hates going to work, as there is almost nothing to do. They are thinking of moving out of their apartment and are trying to sell the car, and at the same time my cousin is about to get into college. My grandmother was actually thinking about selling her apartment to pay for it. It hurts to think about it. Apparently my parents are thinking about buying the car or giving money or something. I think we are actually taking quite a lot of money when we go to visit at the start of summer.
Life sucks. Also, C's are average. Getting a B is above average. And if everyone got A's, we should be in the next technological age by now. We are moving backwards more than forwards... Our generation is going to suck with all its dept, job loss and pollution. And population density and drug-resistant disease. Awesome.
**Apparently its more. How lame.

Everything I've written is true.
I posted those pictures as an effort to relieve some pain I had been feeling earlier, and cause I sketched that lil troll real fast on the way home, and it needed a home. Yet it wasn't good enough for the graphics section.
Regardless, anyone got any idea how long it would take to walk to canada? O_O
I'm thinking of traveling up there, then across to the east coast. I hear there's quite a few of the guys along that path, and it'd be kinda fun aimlessly showing up at their houses.
At the ibook think, I would sell everything, and get an ibook or something like that, something portable, so that whenever I'd come across one of those internet cafe's I could check and see it I could get some freelance design work. A tiny effort to get some monies, while keeping me company. Also to maintain communication with people, it's not like I've got a phone or anything.

choose one
Even if you can't take the bus from where you live you may be able to hitch hike part way, bus the rest. I am sure some of us on the forums may be able to give you a hand on your journey up. I believe several of us live on your path.
Another option is to get a good trustworthy bike (Doesn't need to be anything fancy, just needs to have two wheels and the ability to use them. you can get them pretty cheap @ pawn shops and second hand sports stores) It would be faster then walking up here but is would almost be as cheap. (I had an aunt who biked down there once, she took the train back though)
You would also need a passport or at a minimum Birth certificate, to pass the border.
If you have a guitar or some such instrument you may be able to busk for money (I know one guy who gets 80$ a day)
If you could tell us what kind of education you have we could give you better advice.
