Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding

I wanted to take a high res screenshot of MC and place a Halo logo on it, and stuff. Like, remake the original Halo icon but in higher resolution. Or reinterpret it, at least. >_> Idk. I'll post my work when there's any progress.

Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
No background > bad background.
Not like a background dmg image or an icon is even significant to worry about at this stage. (But to nitpick: text on icons are normally a no-no).
Found a couple papers regarding gamespy authorization which may be handy:
http://aluigi.altervista.org/papers/gskey-auth.txt
http://aluigi.altervista.org/papers/gspids.txt
I think the hash I found was the MD5 hash for the serial key. Maybe I found the client and/or server token too, all concatenated.
If we were to make our own lobby, it'd be running on a server like on HDM or something, not running any server on the user's own machine.

I am no longer active to Halo or MGM, and don't guarantee a response on the forums or through email. I will however linger around the discord room for general chatting. It's been fun!
Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
What Modzy said about the lag, I doubt there would be any increase in latency if players hosted the php script on their own localhost web servers. If a third-party site hosted like HDM (which can't host because our host won't let us use more than 100MB ... although I guess it's still possible but it would make the wiki a little slower... then everyone would get the same amount of lag so there would be no host advantage anymore.
Either you are groping for answers, or you are asking God and listening to Jesus.

That would be an incredible hassle on the user end. No way.Sparky wrote:What Modzy said about the lag, I doubt there would be any increase in latency if players hosted the php script on their own localhost web servers. Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
how's this? I've still gotta fix the borders on MC's sides etc.
tools used: eschaton, halo demo and photoshop.
the AR has a brown grip because some weeks ago i was trying to make some beta-halo themed weapons, and i forgot to revert the bitmaps.map file to normal when i started taking snapshots. I thought it looked cool so i kept it; but making it look like the original AR would be easy, if needed!
Anyway i'll just release the icon by itself and if you want to use it for the Halo Demo UB thing then i'll just be happy about that!

Oh, beta stuff? I think I had some bitmaps that were beta styled if you want them taxi :3
And it needs some faux detail on the mc.

Theres something up with his hands.
Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
http://halodemomods.com/mediawiki/image ... ndings.txt - Updated findings.
I found this link http://aluigi.freeforums.org/halo-dedic ... -t615.html for patching halo dedicated server executable on Windows for removing serial key check, but haven't found much use of it.
Tried using a packet sniffer, saw some game-information was sent, but saw nothing obvious about gamespy authorization.
Re: Icon. NOT IMPORTANT. (but, I'm not really a fan, bottom half seems unnecessary, upper half is nothing new, Halo text is worthless to have).
Much more importantly, I'd still welcome anyone actually uploading a Windows retail executable and its corresponding cracked executable along with the version for both (which have to be the same).

Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
Alright, nil, I'll get on that.
http://www.codeguru.com/forum/archive/i ... 94100.html
which says that it won't work on binary files.
I will try it though and include the files you requested. I was already able to patch my Halo PC CD copy from 1.0 to 1.01, which is the same as the cracked version. Today's version is at 1.09, so that's quite a bit different. If you want, I can include every patched version from 1.0 to 1.09. In fact, yeah, I'll do that.
I'll post again with the archive.
nil, read the last post here:nil wrote:I was kind of thinking this recently too. If anyone who has Windows could find and upload the Windows executable (exe) of a version of Halo Full, and a corresponding 'cracked' version (that you can find online) that both reflect the same Halo version (the more up to date the version is, the better), and then use DUMPBIN /DISASM to dump the assembly code to a file for both executables, and upload those files as well, that'd be cool...Sparky wrote:What was that site with all those hacking tools on it? Something "underground"? Anyway, if you can use a windows program to hack the halo full game or speak with someone who has done that, then you can find similarities to the Mac version of the game.
If we skip over the function that sends the key information... I don't know. But we have to find it first, although it would sound like gamespy just wouldn't register us.

Woo! You made a DMG! I'm so proud of you Mgal. Thank you so much for your contribution to this project. I think that we should just put your name for the background.Mgalekgolo wrote:![]()

Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
I was giving myself credit lol. When I remake it i'll just write DMG/Bundling: Mgalkeoglolgouh;adfsijhf.sakf;jisduhdafjk.ds
Re: Extending the Life of Halo Modding
Or use a subtle zen approach, using little text and keeping it simple, putting your name in a text file.Mgalekgolo wrote:I was giving myself credit lol. When I remake it i'll just write DMG/Bundling: Mgalkeoglolgouh;adfsijhf.sakf;jisduhdafjk.ds
I think that would be better.
